CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Not only is SpaceX helping NASA send a 3D printer to space, but they're also taking mice and mutant flies to the International Space Station. The crew of 20 female mice will be a good test for SpaceX for the future possibility of them delivering humans to the space station. The launch went forward without any issues on Sunday morning after being delayed for 24 hours due to poor weather conditions. The cargo is expected to reach the space station on Tuesday.

SpaceX is owned by Elon Musk, who also owns the Tesla car brand. SpaceX and Boeing recently received a $6.8 billion contract from NASA to carry astronauts to the space station when the companies are prepared to do so, with estimates stating first launches will occur in 2017.
