WASHINGTON, April 15 (UPI) -- The moon passed under the amber shadow of the Earth causing a full midnight lunar eclipse, producing a phenomenon known as the "blood moon."
The moon eclipsed at 1:58 a.m. EDT, an inconvenient time for those asleep. Luckily, video and images taken across the globe show the beautiful red, golden moon as it crossed the night sky. This is the first of four consecutive eclipses that will occur at six-month intervals.
