CUPERTINO, Calif., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Owners of certain iPhones, iPads or iPods saw some big changes Wednesday when they downloaded the iOS 7 upgrade U.S. tech giant Apple said changed everything.

Not only does the next version of its device software overhaul design, it also brings a host of new features, Apple said last week in advance of Wednesday's release. The applications have been redesigned and new features, such as the Control Center, make it easier to adjust the device's settings.

Apple's iOS 7 update is available to anyone with an iPhone 4 or higher, iPad 2 or above, iPad mini or the 5th generation iPod touch.

The iOS 7 introduces great new features such as Control Center, AirDrop for iOS, and smarter multitasking, Apple said, while making everyday tasks easier, simpler and more enjoyable.

"And while many of the apps look different, the way you do things feels perfectly familiar," Apple said. "So from day one, you know how to use the world's most advanced mobile OS. In its most advanced form."
