GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Police in Sweden say arrests were made as angry Swedish teens protested an anonymous Instagram account that spread sexual rumors about local teenagers.

Teenagers protested in the streets of Gothenburg after an anonymous Instagram user created an account and asked Gothenburg teens to name people they would describe as "sluts" or "whores," Russia Today reported Tuesday.

More than 200 photos and names of children as young as thirteen were posted to the account with a list of their alleged sexual activities.

The protest grew unruly and riot police were called and eventually arrested 27 people.

"Several bottles and rocks were thrown at police on the scene and some members of the public who were passing by had their cars damaged," police said in a statement.

The protesters dispersed when a 17-year-old student, believed to be the person behind the Instagram account, was taken into custody for questioning on suspicion of libel, police said.
