LONDON, June 20 (UPI) -- "Oversharing" is the biggest turnoff most likely to lose you friends on social networks such as Facebook, a British survey found.

Forty-six percent of those surveyed by discount Web site MyVoucherCodes said they had unfriended someone for posting too many status updates containing excessive information, The Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday.

The main reasons people gave for cutting virtual ties with a friend were excessive updates, bombarding friends with photos and "liking" too many pages, the survey found.

"It can become too much if you see the same person updating their status every time you log on," MyVoucherCodes Chairman Mark Pearson said. "It's important to remember it's not the be all and end all."

Most of the people surveyed admitted they didn't delete the friendships because they wanted to have the option to look at the oversharers' profiles later.

MyVoucherCodes surveyed 1,750 British Facebook users.
