GREENBELT, Md., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- A new Russian resupply craft arrived at the International Space Station and docked with it Wednesday morning, NASA said.
The ISS Progress 45 craft docked with the station at 7:35 a.m. EDT after a trip that began Sunday with its launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, the agency said in a release.
The ISS crew opened the 45P hatches and immediately began the transfer of 1,653 pounds of propellant, 110 pounds of oxygen, 926 pounds of water and 3,108 pounds of maintenance gear, spare parts and experiment hardware, the agency said.
The craft will remain attached to the station until Jan. 25 when, loaded with station trash and discarded equipment, it will undock and descend to a fiery end over the Pacific Ocean.
The next spaceship to the ISS will be the Soyuz TMA-22 which will deliver three new station crew members on Nov. 16.
Flight Engineers Dan Burbank, Anton Shkaplerov and Anatoly Ivanishin will join Expedition 29 crewmates Commander Mike Fossum and Flight Engineers Satoshi Furukawa and Sergei Volkov.
The International Space Station has now been continuously inhabited for 11 years, NASA said.
