HOUSTON, March 7 (UPI) -- Discovery undocked from the International Space Station Monday in preparation for ending its 13th and last trip to the orbiting research facility, NASA said.

The wake-up music for the shuttle crew at 2:23 a.m. EST was the "Theme from Star Trek."

After the separation, pilot Eric Boe flew the shuttle around the space station, allowing the crew to take photos of the ISS with its newest addition, the Leonardo Permanent Multipurpose Module.

After the fly-around the shuttle performed two engine firings to begin increasing the distance between it and the ISS.

Other Monday duties for the crew were to include a final inspection of Discovery's heat shield, using the orbiter boom sensor system and its cameras.

The imagery collected will be sent down to analysts who will study it to ensure that no damage was done to Discovery's thermal protection system while it has been in space, NASA said.
