OTTAWA, June 14 (UPI) -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced the recall of some ready-to-eat meats produced by Smith's Quality Meats because of possible contamination.
The CFIA said the Winnipeg, Manitoba, company said the recalled products might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness.
The recall involves ready-to-eat meat products bearing a "Best Before" date between "2010JN11," June 11, 2010, and "2010SE03," Sept. 3, 2010.
Being recalled are deluxe beef salami, pepperoni hot, coarse garlic sausage ring, corned beef round sliced, premium cooked roast beef sliced, pizza style boneless smoked ham sliced, pepperoni sliced, smoked beef wieners, corned beef round, premium cooked roast beef, garlic roast beef, smoked beef and pastrami.
The affected products were distributed to retail and deli stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.
