OTTAWA, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced the recall of certain Nutkao-brand nut spreads imported from Italy because of a labeling error.
The CFIA said GiGi Importing Ltd. of Brampton, Ontario, says the products might contain peanuts that are not declared on the label.
Being recalled are various kinds of Nutkao-brand fantasia di cacaoa that were distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. However, officials said the products might have also been distributed nationally.
CFIA officials said there have been no reported illnesses in Canada associated with the consumption of the products, but some allergic reactions have been reported in Europe.
