WASHINGTON, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the limited recall of Country Acres-brand turkey and quail starter feed because of a formulation error.
The FDA said Land O'Lakes Purina Feed LLC is recalling its "Country Acres Home Grown Turkey & Quail Starter 30% BMD 200" because a manufacturing error resulted in one lot being produced with a lower protein level. Low protein levels can adversely affect bird growth and development and, in extreme cases, increase the potential for bird mortality.
The recalled 50-pound bags of feed bear lot No. "9AUG20ARC1" printed on the sewing strip of each bag. The recalled lot was distributed to dealers in Louisiana, southern Arkansas, eastern Texas and southern Mississippi.
