Great Value-brand berry cereal recalled

WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of Great Value-brand berry crunch cereal because it might contain undeclared almonds.

The FDA said the Gilster-Mary Lee Corp. of Chester, Ill., initiated the recall of a single lot of 21-ounce packages of the cereal because it could present a health hazard for people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds or tree nuts.

The product was distributed through Wal-Mart stores in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

Only packages listing the code 07 21 10 N02 are affected by the recall.
