FDA: Gravies, sauces may have salmonella

WASHINGTON, July 8 (UPI) -- Sauer's, Gold Medal and Piggly Wiggly gravies and sauces are being recalled due to possible contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says.

The FDA said the C.F. Sauer Co. of Richmond, Va., initiated the voluntary recall of brown gravy, brown gravy with mushrooms, brown gravy with onions, turkey gravy, pork gravy, country sausage gravy, country style gravy, alfredo sauce mix, Cajun gumbo mix and Hollandaise sauce mix because they contain instant non-fat dry milk that might be contaminated with salmonella bacteria.

The recalled products include foil packets and plastic jars distributed to retail stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Florida and Pennsylvania.
