NASA details Endeavour pre-launch events

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., June 4 (UPI) -- The U.S. space agency is detailing pre-launch activities for space shuttle Endeavour's STS-127 mission to the International Space Station.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration shuttle is to be launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida June 13 at 7:17 a.m. EDT.

On Tuesday, June 9, Endeavour's seven astronauts are to arrive at the space center at 12:15 a.m. EDT, with NASA televising live coverage as Commander Mark Polansky makes a brief statement.

NASA said it will provide continuous STS-127 pre-launch updates, including a Webcast and a blog at http://www.nasa.gov/shuttle.

On launch day, the blog will update the countdown beginning at 2 a.m. During the mission the blog, originating from the space center, will provide information about the crew's progress and, as the mission nears an end, it will detail the spacecraft's return to Earth.

NASA TV will also provide live coverage of the mission's planned five spacewalks as the astronauts complete construction of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's Kibo laboratory.
