NASA updates Endeavour's June launch plans

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., May 28 (UPI) -- The U.S. space agency says the dates of the launch dress rehearsal and roll-out for space shuttle Endeavour's STS-127 June mission have changed.

NASA officials said space shuttle Endeavour will be moved from Launch Pad 39B to pad 39A early Sunday -- a day later than originally planned -- and the STS-127 crew's launch dress rehearsal, known as the Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test, will take place June 2-4, instead of the original May 31-June 2 period.

NASA said the delay will allow engineers and technicians to complete work that was delayed due to recent weather conditions.

Endeavour had been stationed at launch pad 39B in case an emergency rescue operation had been necessary during the repair mission to the Hubble Space Telescope by space shuttle Atlantis.

The Endeavour launch is scheduled for June 13 at 7:17 a.m. EDT.

NASA said STS-127 will be the 32nd construction flight to the ISS and the last of a series of three flights dedicated to the assembly of the Japanese Kibo laboratory complex.

The first motion of the shuttle on its pad-to-pad move is scheduled for 12:01 a.m. EDT Sunday, with live coverage of the event televised on NASA TV beginning at 6 a.m.
