WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says Wells Dairy Inc. is expanding its recall of ice cream products containing possibly tainted peanuts.

The Le Mars, Iowa, company is among hundreds of firms recalling candy, ice cream, cereal, dog treats and other products manufactured with possibly salmonella-contaminated peanuts, peanut butter or peanut paste from the Peanut Corp. of America.

Wells said its nationwide voluntary recall includes select ice cream sold under the Blue Bunny, Great Value, Hy-Vee, Sysco, Fastco, Shurfresh and Country Rich labels, all with "Best Used By" dates prior to "2/4/2010."

Other recent recalls include:

--American Health Kennels Inc.: Various dog treats including Bark Bars, and Dog Ate My Homework bars.

--EB Performance LLC: PB & Whey-brand protein bites.

--Bliss Bros. Diary Inc.: Select one-half-gallon and 3-gallon packages of Witch's Brew-brand ice cream and 3-gallon packages of JJ Lawsen-brand "Snikkers" ice cream products.

--The Dairy Fresh Corp.: One-half gallon containers of Southern Home-brand tin roof sundae ice cream with a "sell by" date of "August 30, 2009" or earlier.

--The Ramsey Popcorn Co.: Camp Masters Gourmet-brand "Chocolatey" peanut clusters.

The FDA said the recalls don't include any major brands of peanut butter sold in jars.

A FDA list of all products involved in the recall, including lot numbers, expiration dates and other information, is available at http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/salmonellatyph/recalls.html.
