Scotts Co. joins peanut product recalls

WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- The Scotts Co. is among the most recent U.S. firms recalling products containing possibly tainted peanut products produced by the Peanut Corp. of America.

Scotts, located in Marysville, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling specific lots of three brands of suet wild bird food products because they might be contaminated with salmonella: Morning Song-brand nutty safari, woodpecker and multi-pack suets, as well as Royal Wing-brand raisin suet and Morning Melodies-brand variety suet.

Other recent national recalls announced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration included:

--The National Raisin Co.: Champion, Aldi Southern Grove, Food Lion, Bloom, Supervalue, Acme, Albertsons, Jewel and Shad's brands of trail mixes.

Gurley's Foods Inc.: Gurley's- and Gurley's Golden Recipe-brand chocolate covered peanuts.

--Tree of Life Inc.: Tree of Life-brand trail mix and yogurt and carob peanuts.

--BioGenesis Nutraceuticals Inc.: Diabetone gluco support peanut chocolate bars with manufacturing dates of May and June 2008.

--The Marich Confectionery Co.: Marich-brand milk chocolate peanuts and chocolate peanut butter toffee.

--Zaloom Marketing Corp.: Sunset Orchard-brand peanuts, trail mix, raisin nut & seed mix, hot Cajun mix and fruit & nut mix.

--Arrowhead Mills Inc.: Arrowhead Mills-brand organic stone ground whole wheat flour.

No major brands of peanut butter sold in jars are affected by the recalls.
