Osem-brand pasta chicken meals recalled

WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says 1.94-ounce Osem-brand creamy pasta chicken meals are being recalled because of a labeling error.

The FDA said Osem USA Inc. of Englewood Cliffs, N.J., initiated the voluntary recall of its "Meals-on-the-Go" kosher product because it might contain traces of milk not declared on the label, posing a health hazard for people allergic to milk.

The product was distributed only to all-kosher stores and kosher sections of supermarkets, nationwide. The company said the traces of milk that came from the "parve" creamer were determined to be of extremely insignificant quantity by kosher authorities involved in the issue.
