Canada recalls Kanata-brand smoked salmon

OTTAWA, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning against consumption of Kanata Smoke House-brand smoked Atlantic salmon due to possible contamination.

The CFIA said the salmon might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause the foodborne illness listeriosis. Officials said food tainted with the bacteria might not look or smell spoiled, but can cause serious conditions, especially in elderly or pregnant people.
