Stuffed chicken products recalled

WASHINGTON, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service said about 6,000 pounds of frozen stuffed chicken products are being recalled due to possible contamination.

The FSIS said the Barber Foods Co. of Portland, Maine, said the recalled stuffed chicken distributed in midwestern and eastern U.S. states might contain foreign materials.

The recall includes 2.5-pound packages of "Market Day Stuffed Chicken Breast Roast with Rib Meat, with Cranberry and Sage Stuffing" and 10-pound cases of "Barber Foods Distinctions" carver with cranberry and sage stuffing.

The stuffed chicken breast roasts bear the date code "31881" stamped above the ingredient statement on the box. The 10-pound cases of carvers had a date code of "31881" or "31882" located on top of the case.

The products were produced Nov. 13 and were distributed to institutional food service establishments and as samples nationwide. The problem was discovered after a consumer discovered pieces of plastic in the product.

Consumers with questions can call Randi Perry, the company's customer service supervisor, at 800-577-2595.
