Some sliced leeks recalled in Canada

OTTAWA, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning against consumption of certain leeks due to possible bacterial contamination.

The CFIA and Les Cultures de Chez Nous Inc. of Sainte-Brigitte-des-Saults, Quebec, said the leeks might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes that can cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness.

Being recalled are the company's sliced leeks with a UPC of 6 61999 00250 7or 6 61999 00750 2 and a "best before" date of "27-01-02." The products were distributed in New Brunswick and Quebec.
