CHICAGO, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Despite ongoing harsh winter conditions in North America and Europe, a survey finds a consensus among scientists that global warming continues unabated.

The University of Illinois-Chicago surveyed an international group of 3,146 earth scientists and found overwhelming agreement that during the past 200-plus years, mean global temperatures have been rising, and that human activity is a ongoing significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures.

The survey was conducted by Associate Professor Peter Doran and former graduate student Maggie Kendall Zimmerman. The findings are detailed in the journal Eos, Transactions, published by the American Geophysical Union.
