Infant gas relief drops are recalled

WASHINGTON, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of about 12,000-units of Mylicon-brand gas relief dye free drops sold in 1 ounce plastic bottles.

The FDA said the Johnson & Johnson-Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals Co. initiated the recall because some bottles might contain metal fragments generated during the manufacturing process.

The two lots of infants' Mylicon-brand gas relief dye-free drops being recalled are SMF007 and SMF008. The lot numbers are printed both on the bottom of the box and on the lower left side of the sticker on the bottle.

The drops are sold nationwide as an anti-gas medicine to relieve the discomfort of infant gas frequently caused by air swallowing or by certain formulas or foods.

Consumers who purchased the recalled product can contact the company at 800-222-9435 to arrange for a replacement or refund and to obtain more information.
