WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of five generic, non-branded drugs manufactured by the Ethex Corp. due to a health hazard.
The FDA said Ethex initiated the voluntary recall because some lots of the drugs -- Propafenone HCl, Isosorbide Mononitrate, Morphine sulfate and Dextroamphetamine Sulfate -- might be packaged with oversized tablets that could contain more than the intended levels of the active drug ingredient, possible resulting in patients receiving as much as about twice the expected dosage of the drugs. The FDA said such overdoses can have serious or life-threatening consequences.
Consumers with questions can contact the company at 800-748-1472. A list of the recalled products and their lot numbers is available at http://www.fda.gov/oc/po/firmrecalls/ethex11_08.html.
