WASHINGTON, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntarily recall of some Progresso-brand tomato soup because of a labeling error.
The FDA said General Mills Inc. initiated the recall of one day's production of Progresso Hearty Tomato soup because the soup might contain egg, milk and soy not listed on the label, thereby posing a health hazard to people allergic to those ingredients.
The recall includes only 19-ounce cans of Progresso Hearty Tomato soup with the code date "19May10 NV VN-3" printed on the bottom of the can. General Mills said a production error resulted in some cases of Progresso Light Vegetable and Noodle soup being mislabeled as Progresso Hearty Tomato soup.
Consumers requesting refunds or wanting further information can contact the company at 800-200-9377.
