Harry & David Moose Munch product recalled

WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of some Harry & David "Moose Munch Confection Milk Chocolate Gingerbread" due to a labeling error.

The FDA said Harry and David of Medford, Ore., is voluntarily recalling approximately 400, 20-ounce boxes labeled "Harry & David Moose Munch Confection, Milk Chocolate Gingerbread" because the package may contain pecans not declared on the ingredient statement, posing a health risk for people with an allergy or severe sensitivity.

The recalled product was distributed only in Harry and David stores. The boxes display a "Best if used by" date of "6/28/09" on a sticker on the bottom of the box, along with a stock identifying No. RSD142014.

The company said the popcorn-based confection is packaged in brown and white paperboard boxes that feature a large white moose on the front.

Consumers can return the recalled product to any Harry and David retail store for a refund of call the company at 800-233-1101 for further information.
