Ohio State hosts healthcare conference

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- The Ohio State University Medical Center says it will be the site next month of a conference focusing on personalized healthcare.

The conference, to be attended by more than 200 healthcare providers, government policy officials, academic leaders, consumer and patient advocacy groups and others, will be Oct. 16-17 at Ohio State University's Biomedical Research Tower.

Personalized healthcare utilizes gene-based information to understand each person's individual requirements for maintaining their health, preventing disease and tailoring therapies.

"Personalized healthcare is emerging as one of the most significant developments in health care in the 21st century," said Dr. Daniel Sedmak, executive director of the Ohio State Center for Personalized Health Care. "The conference will serve as a national platform to discuss the emerging trends and latest developments of personalized healthcare research and its integration into personalized healthcare."
