OTTAWA, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced the expansion of a La Chaudiere-manufactured cheese curd recall due to possible Salmonella contamination.

The original warning, issued Friday, now includes additional flavors of Chaudiere-, Polo- and Tradition-brand cheese products.

The CFIA and Fromages La Chaudiere Inc. said all sizes and flavors of the following products -- all distributed in the Quebec area -- are affected by the recall:

-- Firm unripened cheese curd, some sold in barbecue, tomato basil or fine herb flavors, with "Best Before" dates up to and including 29SE2008 or 29OC2008.

-- Firm unripened cheese curd, with "Best Before" dates up to and including 29SE2008.

-- Firm unripened cheese mild blocks, all with "Best Before" dates up to and including "29OC2008."

-- Super C cheddar cheese curd fresh or Super C cheddar cheese block fresh, all with "Best Before" dates up to and including "29SE2008."

The CFIA said if the original product identity and 'Best Before" dates are not evident, consumers are advised to check with their retailer to determine if the product is affected by the recall.
