WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service said 215,660 pounds of Hot Pockets-brand pepperoni pizza sandwiches are being recalled due to a health hazard.

Nestle Prepared Foods Co. of Mount Sterling, Ky., said the recalled products, distributed nationally, were 54-ounce, 12-pack cartons of Hot Pockets Pepperoni Pizza-brand stuffed sandwiches. Printed on the side of each carton is "8157544614D," "EST 7721A" and "Best Before JAN2010."

The FSIS said Nestle initiated the recall after receiving consumer complaints about pieces of plastic in the sandwiches.

Consumers with questions can contact the company at 800-350-5016.
