Some Wegmans-brand sorbets recalled

WASHINGTON, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of some Wegmans-brand sorbets because of a labeling error.

The FDA said the 16-ounce paperboard containers of sorbet might contain undeclared milk protein, posing a health hazard for people allergic to dairy products.

The sorbets were distributed in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland. The four recalled sorbet flavors -- Lemon, Raspberry, Green Apple and Pink Grapefruit -- listed "best by" dates ranging from September 2008 to March 2009.

Consumers who have purchased the affected Wegmans sorbets can return them for a refund or contact the company at 800-873-7797 for information.
