Farmer receives two new arms

MUNICH, Germany, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Doctors in Germany performed the world's first transplant of two full arms on a man whose arms were severed six years ago.

The 15-hour operation was conducted last week at Technical University in Munich, Deutsche Welle reported Friday. There were 40 medics involved in the complicated procedure.

Doctors said the 54-year-old patient -- a farmer -- was doing very well, although it could take up to two years for him to regain feeling in his fingertips.
