After having researched the body of neurological literature, Lars-Erik Bjorklund said intuition exists because humans receive and analyze sensory impressions consciously and unconsciously, The Local reported Wednesday.

Stored images and memories of previous experiences in a human's subconscious helps to predict similar, new situations, he said in his thesis -- hence, intuition.

"We can never attain this knowledge and capabilities that we need in our working lives by reading or counting. Practical experience is indispensable and needs to be revalued," he wrote in his thesis.
