WASHINGTON, June 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of some 1-gallon jugs of Nestle-brand purified drinking water due to possible contamination.

The "Nestle Pure Life Purified Drinking Water" was sold in Shop-Rite stores in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

The FDA said fewer than 150 bottles might contain a diluted form of a common food grade cleaning compound that has a bitter or sour taste but that could cause health concerns if ingested in large quantities.

The recalled product date code is printed on the shoulder of the bottles. The first line of the code is 050508126WF024 and the code on the second line begins with the numbers "08."

Consumers who possess the recalled Nestle purified water can contact the company at 866-599-8980.
