Ground beef in British Columbia recalled

OTTAWA, May 15 (UPI) -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced a recall of certain ground beef products in British Columbia because of possible E. coli contamination.

The supplier -- Trimpac Meat Distributors Inc. of Vancouver -- said the recalled ground beef products were sold at Eric's Meat Market in Kaslo, Slaters Meats Ltd of Victoria, Ozark Country Meats in Surrey, Tango's Gourmet Meats Ltd of Vancouver, Heringer's Olde Fashioned Quality of Richmond and Jack's On Granville in Vancouver.

The CFIA said food contaminated with E. coli might not look or smell spoiled but can cause serious and potentially life-threatening illnesses.

Consumers with questions can contact the CFIA at 800-442-2342. Additional information is available at http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/corpaffr/recarapp/2008/20080514be.shtml.
