WASHINGTON, May 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntary recall of Blount-brand New England clam chowder because of a labeling error.

The FDA said Blount Fine Foods of Fall River, Maine, initiated the recall because the product might contain undeclared shrimp, posing a health risk for people allergic to that ingredient.

Being recalled are 20-ounce dark blue plastic cups with a film seal and plastic lid. The lot number 0424086D and a sell by date of "6/23/2008" are printed on the bottom of the cup.

Blount New England Clam Chowder was distributed across Massachusetts and Maine.

Consumers can return the product for a refund or contact the company at 800-274-2526.
