Harry and David recall espresso beans

WASHINGTON, April 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of approximately 66,500 bags of Harry and David-brand espresso beans due to a labeling error.

The FDA said Harry and David Inc. of Medford, Ore., voluntarily recalled the bags of chocolate covered "select blend" espresso beans because they might contain milk not declared on the ingredient statement, posing a health hazard for people allergic to milk.

The product was made by Sanders Candy Factory Inc. of Baldwin Park, Calif., and was distributed nationwide under the Harry and David brand only in Harry and David stores.

The eight-ounce bags do not have a "contains milk, soy" statement on the nutrition label. The espresso beans are packaged in clear plastic bags, tied at the top with a tan ribbon.

Consumers may return the bags to any Harry and David retail store for a full refund or can contact the company at 800-233-1101.
