HELSINKI, Finland, March 13 (UPI) -- Finnish and U.S. scientists have identified a gene that is involved in the regulation of carbon dioxide update in plants.
Researchers from the University of Helsinki and the University of California-San Diego said their discovery of the gene that regulates CO2 uptake for photosynthesis and water evaporation might lead geneticists to a new tool to develop more drought-tolerant crops.
