WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Health author Jordan Rubin said he planned to hit the road during 2008, crisscrossing the United States to combat fat.

Rubin, who calls West Palm Beach, Fla., home, said he planned to visit 200 cities by bus beginning on New Year's Day to promote his book, "Perfect Weight America," and help people needing a health makeover.

"In many homes, the average diet of processed convenience foods has resulted in fat parents, fat kids and a fat family dog who has feasted on too many leftovers," Rubin said in a news release. "What I'm concerned with is the millions of Americans who genuinely want to lose weight but are discouraged from failing on so many diets."

Rubin has books about weight control on best seller lists of The New York Times and USA Today.
