New theory addresses frozen Earth paradox

HOUSTON, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- The International Space Station crew is preparing for a spacewalk Tuesday to inspect the starboard solar array, the U.S. space agency said.
NASA said the spacewalk, which will be performed by ISS commander Peggy Whitson and flight engineer Dan Tani, will be a fact-finding mission to help determine how to restore the starboard solar array's sun-tracking capability.
The Solar Alpha Rotary Joint and the Beta Gimbal Assembly have been temporarily locked in place while the solar arrays still produce power.
Whitson and Tani completed a procedure review on Friday, NASA said in a release.
