WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. space agency Wednesday released satellite images of the massive Southern California wildfires that have burned more than 335,000 acres.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration said the new images -- taken between Los Angeles and San Diego -- are accessible on its Web site and would be regularly updated.

The National Interagency Fire Center reported 12 large, uncontained fires continued to spread Wednesday due to strong, dry Santa Ana winds. However, the National Weather Service forecast the winds to diminish Thursday.
