Infighting could hurt OSU medical center

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Disputes between donors and hospital officials at Ohio State University could delay a $780 million medical center expansion.

Consultants called in to review the plans said infighting between officials at OSU Medical Center and Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital donors could scare away top doctors and scientists, The Columbus Dispatch said Friday.

The newspaper said uncertainty over the project's direction will likely delay the project past its target completion date of 2011.

William Shkurti, the university's senior vice president for business and finance, said he is cautiously optimistic things will work out in the debate over the project.
