FDA announces nationwide spinach recall

WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the nationwide recall of Metz Fresh bagged spinach due to possible bacterial contamination.

Metz Fresh LLC of King City, Calif., initiated the voluntary recall after routine lab testing identified salmonella bacteria in a sample from one of three production lines. However, as a precaution, the company recalled all spinach packed the same day on all three lines.
