ANTHEM, Ariz., July 13 (UPI) -- An Arizona medical clinic is under investigation after three people died following liposuction surgery.
Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio said his office is investigating Dr. Peter Normann and the Normann Medical Group of Anthem, Ariz., the Arizona Republic said Friday.
"It looks suspicious that three people died in seven months," Arpaio told the newspaper.
Normann was banned from performing liposuction procedures after two patients died, one in December and one in April, the newspaper said.
A state medical board investigator determined that a second physician, Dr. Gary Page, a licensed homeopathic doctor, performed liposuction on the third patient on July 3.
Homeopathic doctors aren't licensed to perform liposuction procedures in Arizona, the Republic said.
