Botox used on necks

NEW YORK, March 19 (UPI) -- A New York dermatologist said Americans are spending as much as $1,000 to have Botox injected into their necks.

Neil Sadick, president of the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation, said in addition to being used on furrowed brows and foreheads, Botox can smooth horizontal wrinkles and diminish vertical cords in the neck, USA Today reported.

Sadick said he has used the procedure on dozens of patients, most of them women in their late 40s and 50s with the chin-to-chest bands that emerge with aging.

According to Sadick, Botox relaxes the muscles that shrink the bands.

Plastic surgeon David Watts of Vineland, N.J., told USA Today Botox won't work for those with "a really heavy turkey gobbler."

When people with loose folds on their necks come to Watts, he does a combination of Botox and a mini facelift.
