MOSCOW, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Officials in Moscow say two outbreaks of the bird flu in Russia have been contained.
Birds died on farms in the Domodedovo and Odintsovo districts of Russia, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control Service spokesman Alexei Alexeyenko said, Itar-Tass reported.
Alexeyenko said the outbreaks were not large, and that the farms have been disinfected and quarantined, Itar-Tass said.
Russian Chief Sanitary Inspector Gennady Onishchenko appeared on Russian television Saturday to assure people that no humans had become ill with the bird flu and that the situation wasn't alarming, Itar-Tass reported.
