FAIRFAX, Va., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- A small but growing number of medical practices across the United States promote the doctors' religious beliefs, a report says.
These doctors offer "natural family planning" and, among other things, shun contraceptive devices, sterilizations, abortions and in vitro fertilization, procedures the doctors themselves find objectionable, the Washington Post says.
It also provides care that doctors say conforms with many patients' own values.
Such a place is the Tepeyac Family Center in Fairfax, Va., which proclaims it combines "the best of modern medicine with the healing presence of Jesus Christ," the Post reports.
"I want to practice my faith," said the founder, Dr. John T. Bruchalski, an obstetrician-gynecologist.
Critics voice concerns that the practices are segregating medicine along religious lines. They say it may lead to inadequate care by failing to fully inform patients about their options.
