GLASGOW, Scotland, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Controversy is brewing in Scotland over plans to administer to young girls a vaccine against a sexually-transmitted virus that can lead to cervical cancer.
Scotland on Sunday revealed that after trials in Glasgow proved successful, health authorities said they were ready to authorize the vaccine for girls as young as 9.

Although there is widespread medical support for the new vaccination program, many others worldwide say it gives children the "green light" to have sex.
Medical experts argue the vaccination program could greatly reduce cases of human papillomavirus, which is blamed for up to 70 percent of cervical cancer cases.
