NEW YORK, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- The head of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. predicts U.S. businesses will soon take the lead in resolving the country's healthcare crisis.

Lee Scott, chief executive officer of the retailing giant, said in an interview with Charlie Rose on the Public Broadcasting Service that both business and labor will come together to help the government in finding the solution, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Scott's own company, in response to criticism, recently introduced a lower monthly premium option for its employees and relaxed eligibility requirements for part-time workers.

Scott expects a resolution of the crisis soon because of the growing number of U.S. citizens without healthcare benefits.

He said he would like to see business and labor share the cost of healthcare. He said leadership from business will also help reduce waste and inefficiencies in the healthcare system.
