German astronaut to speak with students

PARIS, July 12 (UPI) -- German students will be given a chance to question Astronaut Thomas Reiter about his first week at the International Space Station.

The European Space Agency said Reiter, from Frankfurt, will speak with secondary school students Thursday via a satellite communications link. He is to remain at the ISS for six months.

The Paris-headquartered ESA said the students will be at the agency's Columbus Control Center near Munich and will be able to question Reiter about his mission experiences so far, as well as pose questions to two other ESA astronauts. The students will also see their physics lessons put to the test in the microgravity environment of space.

ESA's Columbus Control Center is the hub of European involvement in the mission, covering tasks such as overseeing Reiter's activities and coordinating with the Russian and NASA mission control centers, as well as other European sites providing flight support.
