Drug re-importation measure approved

WASHINGTON, July 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Senate has approved a measure stopping the use of federal funds to impound prescription drugs imported from Canada.

The measure, included as an amendment to the Homeland Security appropriations bill, passed 68-32, with no opposition from Democrats, reports The Hill.

The measure would apply to prescription drugs imported from Canada for individual use.

Some politically vulnerable Republican senators voted for the amendment, the report said.
