LUSAKA, Zambia, July 6 (UPI) -- Zambia Telecommunications is nearly finished with a digital upgrade of its national telecom system that will accommodate expanded wireless service.

Company officials also told The Times of Zambia Thursday that initial survey work on a fiber-optic network had been completed and would lead to better telecom linkage with more than 30 other countries.
